He was predeceased by: his parents, Marjorie and Booker T. Jackson; and his siblings, Doris Jean, Lillie "Cookie" Toliver (Robert) and Marvin.
He is survived by: his significant other Patricia Murray; his son Roy Jackson Jr. (Marshae); his nephew Darryl Ragsdale (Felicha); his great-nieces and great-nephews, LaJuana J. Robinson (Jackie), LaDonna K. Jackson and Candace J. Jackson; his siblings, Curtis Jackson (Jane), Cleophus Jackson, Evelyn Jackson and Loretta Jackson; his grandchildren, Ciera, Rishaad, Jaclyn, Liam, Eden, Gabrielle, Darryl Jr., London and Grant; and his great grandchildren, Oasis, Osiris, Alyssa and Jericho. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
