Hector Mario (Hernandez) Madrigal Obituary

HECTOR MARIO HERNANDEZ MADRIGAL
May 2, 1948 – January 14, 2021

Hector was born on May 2nd, 1948 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, a small city that neighbors the Texas border. His parents, Consuelo Madrigal and Onofre Hernandez raised all 9 of their children in their home. Hector was the seventh of 9 siblings who grew up attending elementary and secondary schools in Nuevo Laredo. While his older and younger siblings were attending college, Hector lived a free-spirited youth having fun with cousins and friends, while helping his parents’ corner store.

In the summer of 1969, life would have a drastic change for Hector. He would marry his first wife, Rosa Elia Reyes, and would make his way to Houston, Texas. The extended Reyes in Houston facilitated and sponsored his Visa to the United States. Even upon his death, he was eternally grateful to the Reyes Family for their kindness.

Once settling in Houston, he started working odd jobs in an ink pen factory and as a custodian at the recently opened Galleria Mall. He then worked for the Weingarten Grocery chain on the Quitman/Fulton location. After several years, he was then hired by a small company called Worthington Service Corporation, circa 1975. It was here that he would be employed for nearly forty years. The company would be sold and bought, names of WSC, McGraw Edison, Dresser, Ingersoll Rand, and Siemens would adorn the buildings, but one name would remain employed throughout those years – Hector Hernandez.

In 1986, Hector would meet his second wife Noemi Aguilar Estudillo. It’s during this time where another chapter would be written. They met at a meeting for Un Millon Amigos by a mutual friend, a few months after meeting Hector became very ill and was hospitalized for around two months and Noemi never left his side. The rest of the story is history and they were together for a total of 37 years. They had many adventures, made many memories and wherever they went they were always together thru the good and the bad.

Hector was a resident of the near Northside (77009) and Spring Branch Ridgecrest Subdivision (77055). He was a Fraternal Member of the Free Masons for nearly 45 years. His Masonic Lodge, Luz De Oriente, became a second home, and his Mason brothers became his second family. Hector coached Little League and even served as League President in 1980. He was also a part of the American Pool players Association and played for 18 years where he made many lifelong friends that he was still in contact till his last days. Hector after he retired loved to give back to his community and would volunteer to donate and raise funds for the Houston police department. He also attended Church services at St. Cecilia and St. Jerome Catholic Churches.

Hector is survived by his siblings, Rene, Luis Onofre, Elva, Marta, Rosario, and Rogelio of Nuevo Laredo. His children, Isabel, Alberto, and Hector, Jr. and their families. His grandchildren, Albert, Lisa, Sean, Kaitlyn, and Aaron. His wife Noemi, through sickness and in health, was by his side till his last day. There are many family members that were not mentioned, but know that Hector loved each and every one of you.

Predeceased by his brothers, his late wife, and his step-daughter, Edgar Humberto Hernandez Madrigal Carlos Hugo Hernandez Madrigal, Rosa Elia Reyes, and Isabel Aguilar.

The Hernandez Family would like to Thank the Hospitals of Memorial Hermann, St. Luke’s, and Methodist and to all the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff who took care of him throughout the years.
