He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnulfo Vela and Almar Campos; and his brother Hector Vela. He is survived by: his wife Maruja Aguilar Vela; his children, Arnulfo Vela (Auntwanette Vela), Veronica Vela (Jose Ortiz) and Hector Vela (Sarah Vela); his grandchildren, Kassandra Vela, Ethan Ortiz and Acilino Vela; his sisters, Eva Lozano (Gilbert Lozano) and Irma Martinez (Jesse Martinez); and his sister-in-law Lydia Vela. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 19th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Greater Power Baptist Church (6325 FM 2218 Rd, Richmond, TX 77469). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, March 19th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the San Gabriel Cemetery (8915 Hwy 90 Alt, Beasley, TX 77471).
