He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Ted and Aldine Marie Skillern; his grandparents, James and Elzadie Cox; and his brothers, Milton Skillern and ThomasAree Skillern.
He is survived by: his sons, Carl Lester Skillern Jr. of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Darius Lester Lewis of Beaumont, Texas; his siblings, Shirley of Houston, Texas, Myrtle of Houston, Texas, Evelyn Skillern of Houston, Texas, Willie (Mary) of Houston, Texas, Elliot (Carmelia) of Arlington, Virginia, Maurice of Memphis and Chelton (Lori) of Alvin, Texas; and his sister-in-law Irma Politte of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by three grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the New Hope Baptist Church (5202 Chapman St, Houston, TX 77009). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the same location. A committal service was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 from 1:15 PM to 1:30 PM at the Paradise Cemetery North (10401 W Montgomery Rd, Houston, TX 77088).
