It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Virginia Shields (Horseshoe Bay, Texas), who passed away on January 26, 2019, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Couch and Allie; her siblings, Aline, Marjorie, Anna Rose and Marshall; and her daughter Nanette Rochelle Saltoon.

She is survived by: her husband James R. Shields (Jim); her daughter Marcia Fontaine (Marci) of Wilmington; her nephews, Dick McElroy of Parkville, Jack McElroy of Clearmont, Richard Lang of Creston, Phil Lang and Chuck Thompson of Des Moines; and her niece Marilyn Groshong of St. Joseph.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Ryan Copeland and Dr. Peyton Delaney for their care and counsel throughout Virginia's battle with Alzheimer's.
