He is survived by: his wife Judy (JuJu); his children, John David Cox (Terri) and Theresa Lynn Cox (Crystal Allen); his adoptive son Vernon Hampton; his daughter Ciara; his grandchildren, Derek Cox (Lane), Dustin Cox, Diane Pennington, Danielle Cox, Trent Hatcher and Brennan Cox; his great grandchildren, Shayla Cox, Charlie Cox, Abilene Cox and Hayes Cox; his siblings-in-law, Lennie Edwards, Ruby Stroup (Ray) and James Tuttle; and his nieces and nephews, Dwayne Cox (Patti), Shane Cox (Lea Ann), Eric Edwards (Debra), Shana Ritchie (Kent), Becky Wampler (Shane) and Angela Bullock (Danny Collins).

Visitation was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at 600 Hi Ridge Rd, Horseshoe Bay, TX 78657. A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at the Smithwick Cemetery.
