He was predeceased by : his father Kenneth Day. He is survived by : his wife Marta; his mother Ruby Jo Day of Abilene; his children, Joanna Day (Eric Morehead) of Dripping Springs and Matthew Day of Arlington; and his grandchildren, Connor Day, Charles, Luke and Rose Morehead.

In lieu of flowers, Wayne's family asks that you donate to your local Alzheimer's Association and do "all the good you can" in his memory.

“Honoring Dr. Day, I'm sending this arrangement. I have resided in Oregon since January 2019, and I am unable to attend. I elected to listen to Dr. Day's sermons between 1997 and 2003 at FUMC, since I considered the kids my own age too callous. Dr. Day's sermons gave me hope.”
