He was predeceased by: his wife Bessie Fay Cardwell; and his parents, John Cardwell and Annie Cardwell. He is survived by: his former wife Bessie Fay Rice; his children, Jacquelyn Permenter of Leonard, Jackie E. Cardwell, Jr. of Granbury and James Cardwell (Jeannie) of Weston, Texas; his grandchildren, Marty Nevil, Jeffrey Permenter, Aaron Cardwell, Jacob Cardwell, Rachel Cardwell and Jordan Cardwell Lanham; and his siblings, Bobbie Devaney, Billie Powers and Sam Cardwell. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
