He was predeceased by: his parents, James Clayton Johnson and Emma Jean Mitchell; and his siblings, Sharon Mitchell, Mannie Mitchell and Clyde Stewart.
He is survived by: his former spouse Avis Cleveland; his children, Sharnece Mitchell, Darrell Mitchell Jr. and Darius Jones; and his siblings, Dolly Miller and James Mitchell. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.
