He was predeceased by: his parents, Overton K. Schmidt and Dovie Mae Schmidt; his wife Linda; and his siblings, Overton Jr., George, Calvin and Joyce Mollgaard.
He is survived by: his sons, Robert D. Schmidt of Hondo and Larry W. Schmidt (Jana); his grandchild Barret of Round Mountain; and his siblings-in-law, Dennis Mollgaard, Ruby Schmidt and Lynn Schmidt. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; and many good friends.
Masks and social distancing are required.
J.D. was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Hondo, and the family suggests memorials be made to the church.
