He was predeceased by: his parents, Edmund Wendel and Clara Braden Wendel; and his siblings, Geraldine Dettling, Magdalene Kudlac, Edmunda Wendel, Gilbert, Clarence and Edmund Wendel, Jr..

He is survived by: his niece Helen Dettling Monfrey; his nephew Leroy Dettling; his brother Bernard Wendel of Fort Worth, Texas; and his sister-in-law Evelyn Wendel of Louise.
