He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Griggs and Melva Lee Whaley Satterly; and his brothers, James Griggs, John Griggs and Robert "R. B.".

He is survived by: his sister Elouise Sanders; his wife Sharon Pesek Griggs; his daughters, Michelle Lammey and Kelly Griggs; his son-in-law Alan Lammey; and his grandchildren, Jazzmin Bullard, Jordan Bullard, Jonathan Lammey, Nicholas Lammey, Natalie Lammey, Justin Griggs, Kiley Griggs and Julian Lammey. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Highlands, Texas.
