Sky Allen McSpadden Obituary
Sky Allen McSpadden, 34, passed away on April 15, 2024. He was a beloved son, husband, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born March 15, 1990, in Dallas, TX, Sky attended Atascocita High School and enjoyed playing tennis. In 2008, Sky followed his desire to serve our country and enlisted in the US Navy, stationed at Mayport Naval Station and NAS JAX during his 9 years of service. He served aboard the USS Halyburton where he fought Somalia pirates for 5 years. During his service on the Halyburton, he participated in the rescue mission of Captain Phillips and was on the ship during the filming of the movie.
Proceeded in death by his grandparents, Jo Humphreys of Baytown, Richard and Betty McSpadden of Kansas City. Sky is survived by his wife, Katie Midkiff; parents Karen Hefner and husband Terry, Tim McSpadden and wife Lynda; sister, Shannon Chitty and husband Matthew; grandparents Bob Humphreys and wife Elaine, Emma Wise; in-laws, Rusty Midkiff and wife Lingzi, Tara McMahon and husband Don and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Sky will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering loyalty to family and friends. Whether he was on or off duty, Sky's charismatic personality and zest for life left a lasting impression on everyone he met. In addition to his military service, Sky was passionate about his art, animals and we all know he loved his firearms . He cherished spending time with his beautiful wife, Katie and their fur babies, Sweetie and Beau. Sky had many loved ones but his Mom was always his rock and as Sky would say "his #1 supporter". Sky was a great big brother, Shannon has a new guardian angel. He always protected her and watched over her now he will do that from Heaven. Sky was known for his generous spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. Sky leaves behind a legacy of courage, compassion, and integrity that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00pm at Sterling-White Funeral home in Highlands, TX.
