It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jerry Irwin of Highlands, Texas, who passed away on May 30, 2022, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Jerry Irwin to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Leslie Irwin and Lucille Mae Stubbs (Lucy); his sisters, Joyce Irwin and Frances Muldrow; and his brothers-in-law, Glen Muldrow and Kerry Gunn.

He is survived by: his wife Susie Irwin; his daughters, Deanna Murray (John Hebert) and Dr. Dawn McCarty; his sons-in-law, Dr. J. Rick Altemose and Steven Nettles; his sons, Douglas Irwin (Heather) and Jesse Irwin; his stepson Michael Harrison; his grandchildren, Geoffrey Murray (Angela), Reagan Nettles, Samantha Nettles, Patrick Irwin and Zane Newton; and his siblings, Allan Irwin (Neva), Sharon Gunn and Debbie Kimmey (Randy).

“Am saddened to have just learned of Jerry's passing from mutual friend and FTV member. Jerry and I served together on Battleship Texas in the '90s. Jerry and I enjoyed giving tours so much, and got along so well, that we discussed forming a company to give tours professionally, with some proceeds going to the ship. Alas, the ship's Park Service manager at the time was not in favor of paid tours, and nixed the idea. Still wonder how it would have worked out. May God bless Jerry.”
