He was predeceased by: his mother Billie; and his sister Donna. He is survived by: his daughter-in-law Cara Hendrix of San Antonio; his son David Hendrix of San Antonio; his stepchildren, Amy Lee Holmes of Brenham and Joel Wilburn of Tomball; his sister Billie Jean; his brother-in-law Pat Mongiello; and his grandchildren, Jessica Rose Wilburn, Karina Wilburn, Sophie Hendrix, Julian Hendrix, William Hendrix, Mac Battaglia, Jocelyn Hendrix and Brandi Wilburn.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that his legacy be honored with a contribution to the Dr. Don Hendrix Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Crosby Education Foundation to benefit Crosby students in the pursuit of their dreams.
