He was predeceased by: his parents, Halsey Butler and Elizabeth Butler; his brother-in-law Archie Edward Proctor; and his nephew Joshua James Butler. He is survived by: his daughters, Julie Lee Gwartney (Gerald) and Lara Beth Slawson (Keith); his grandchildren, Daniel Keith Slawson (Tessa) and Ashby Beth Slawson; his siblings, Anita Proctor and Floyd Butler (Ann); his niece D'Ann Proctor Gonzales; and his nephews, Doug Proctor, Bradley Sutton and Erik Butler.
