He was predeceased by: his parents, Theophilus Joseph Leonberger and Lydia May Leonberger (Foley); and his siblings, Dorothy Mae, Pauline Ellen Kritschgau, Theophilus William, George McKean, Robert Foley Leonberger, Sr. and Theodore J. Leonberger.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Ann Hejl of Year's Eve; his son Richard B. Leonberger, Jr.; his daughter-in-law Tina M. Leonberger; his grandchildren, Garry Leonberger, Drew Leonberger, Ian Leonberger, Aaron Leonberger, Christopher Reid, Katie Costner and Brooke Richardson (Bryan Richardson); and his great grandchild Callahan Richardson.
