He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Benjamin Graves, Sr. and Lucille Phipps Graves; and his siblings, Leona Ruth Dill and Charles B. Graves, Jr. (Dick). He is survived by: his wife Mary Janice "Jan" Cales; his children, Mary Lou Winterrowd (Lance) of McGregor and Richard Graves, Jr. (Janet) of McKinney, Texas; his grandchildren, Benjamin Graves of McKinney, Faith Brugner (Matt) of Dallas, Zachary Winterrowd (Shayna) of Irving and Matthew Winterrowd of Frisco; his great grandchildren, Madilynn Graves, Aubree Graves, James Brugner III and Evelynne; and his children, Sammy and Sophia of Pearland, Texas.. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
