He was predeceased by : his parents, Bill Thompson and Dickie Thompson (McWhirter); his grandchild Taylor Paige Martin; his stepdaughter Jenna Drake; his son-in-law Wayne Johnson; and his pet Buddy (Chihuahua).

He is survived by : his wife Denise Thompson of Paducah, Kentucky; his children, Deann Martin (Phil) of Hereford, Texas and Ashley Haskins (Robert) of Hereford, Texas; his siblings, Mary Ellen, Emma and Randy; his grandchildren, Zack, Jake Martin and Megan Johnson; his stepgrandchildren, Addy Drake, Rebecca Colyer and Donald Haskins; his stepgreat-granddaughters, Isabella and Sabrina; and his pets, Rascal, DeeDee and Bud (Chihuahuas).
