He was predeceased by: his parents, Mazie Lee Smith (Dunham) and John H. Smith; his siblings, Earline Owens, John A. Smith and Robert Neal Smith; and his son-in-law Blaine South.
He is survived by: his wife Waneta Thompson; his children, Lajuana Smith of Lake Arrowhead, Terry Baker (Bill) of Electra, Richard Smith, Jr. (Denise) of Lake Arrowhead and Cheryl South of Wichita Falls, Texas; and his stepsons, Harry Young of Sedalia and Charles Young (Kay) of Green Ridge, Missouri. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Karl Smith; numerous nieces and nephews.
