She was predeceased by: her parents, William G. "Bill" Lyde and Emma Jewell Lyde (Leslie); her husband Jerry Lynn Simpson; her children, Jewelyn Simpson and Jerry Lynn Simpson, Jr.; her grandson Matthew Whatley; and her sisters, Betty Ann Brown, Mamie Jo Roper and Billie Charlotte Petillon.
She is survived by: her daughter Shawna Franklin (Randy); and her grandchildren, Justin Whatley (Jordan), Amy Knight (Alan), Sean Simpson (Erin) and Callista Simpson. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
