It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jose Amaya Sr. (Henrietta, Texas), born in Utopia, Texas, who passed away on July 29, 2019, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Demetrio Amaya and Juanita Amaya (Barbosa); his sons, Ray Amaya and James Amaya; and his siblings, Emma Amaya, Isabel A. Puente, Maximo Amaya, Isidro Amaya, Pablo Amaya, Juan Amaya and Demetrio Amaya, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Henrietta Amaya of Sabinal; his children, Yolanda Amaya (Provat Gupta) of Glendale, California, Jose Amaya Jr. (Rosa) of Aurora and Richard Amaya (Minerva) of Bakersfield, California; and his sister Dominga Benitez of Livermore, California. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
