He was predeceased by: his father Jackie Douglas Sr.; and his sister Paula Hayman. He is survived by: his mother Emma Lee Helms; his wife Valeria Kay Mann; his siblings, Jackie Helms Jr. and Pamela Thompson (Richard); his children, Braonnica K. Bursey (Bubba) and Richard J. Mann; his grandchildren, John Michael Scott (Nicole), Camille Bursey, Aubrey Fulwider and Devyn Cain; and his great grandchildren, Selene Faye Scott and Declan Steele Scott. He is also survived by one niece, many nephews, cousins, and extended family.
