She was predeceased by: her parents, Willard Hallwood and Verna Kate Burton (Hays); her husbands, Ellis Albert "Hootsy" Cates and Edward Adams Morton; her daughter Martha Katherine Cates; her sister Willadene Scogins; and her stepson Doug Morton.
She is survived by: her children, Cyndy Cates Broadus (Gary) of Longview and David Cates (Tonya) of Henderson; her grandchildren, Morgan Cates, Kyleigh Davis, Kristan Cates, Emma Morton, Shawn Broadus, Jason Broadus and Sarah Watkins; her great grandchild Dawson Cates; and her niece Rita Whitehead. She is also survived by other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
