He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Ralph Hanks and Melba Dean Smith; and his brother David Hanks. He is survived by: his wife Sandy Hanks of Hemphill; and his children, Katherine "Kadi" Hanks of Hemphill, Kristian Nicole Jimenez of Hemphill, Tina Raiford (Dustin) of Conroe, Daniel Wayne Hanks (Tina Marie) of Richmond and Steven Jacob Jimenez (Meagan Esque) of Katy. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; and many, many friends.
