He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Tidwell and Ina Lee Adams; and his son John William Tidwell. He is survived by: his wife Johnnie Faye Tidwell; his son Raymond; his daughter-in-law Kimberly Tidwell; his sister Debra Lynn; his siblings-in-law, Ray Amos, Billy, Mary-Ann Seaton and Mildred Seaton; and his grandchildren, Whitney Wright, Christin Tidwell, Taylor Tidwell, Shianna Tidwell, Russell Wallace (Laura Wallace), Mark Wallace (Amy Wallace), Scott Wallace (Jessica Wallace) and Nick Wallace (Sawyer Wallace). He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
