With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sylvester Townsend (Hawkins, Texas), born in Marthaville, Louisiana, who passed away on February 13, 2019 at the age of 82. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Sylvester Townsend to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Jake Thomas Townsend and Ola Belle Mitchell Townsend; his siblings, Dewey, Jim, Don, Larry, Harry and Frankie Gardner; and his grandson Joshua Townsend.

He is survived by: his wife Elaine; his children, Debbie Lee Townsend of Hawkins, TX, Mike Townsend (Debbie A.) of Kilgore, TX, Mark Townsend (Kristi) of McKinney, TX, Matt Townsend (Valerie) of Longview, TX and Tommy Townsend of Visalia, CA; and his sisters, Bonita Heffner of Mt. Croghan, SC, Effie Baily of Charlotte, NC and Nellie Townsend of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and those special ones who considered him to be a father.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to Hospice of East Texas or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
