Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Roy Dean Verner (Hawkins, Texas), born in Greenville, Texas, who passed away at the age of 91, on May 15, 2021. He was predeceased by: his parents, Bill Verner and Grace Verner; and his brother Lanny. He is survived by: his sister Melba Rizzo; his sons, Kyle Verner (Pam Verner), Mike Verner (Ann Verner) and Ron Verner (Lou Verner); his grandchildren, Jennifer Wright (Jacob), Cary Verner (Kinsey), Terry Verner (Kinsey), Lindy Wilhite (Will) and Chris Verner (Jala); his daughter-in-law Lou; his granddaughter-in-law Cassie Henley (Austin); and also, Sue van Huss, Diane Fielder, Lamond Verner, Cailee Ellis (Sam) and Cortni Henke (Adam). He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren.
For any who may wish to honor Roy's life with a memorial gift, Freed Hardeman University set up a fund in 2012 (with donations provided by friends and family and the Church of Christ at Holly Lake) to honor Roy and Wanda's life in ministry – the Roy and Wanda Verner Preacher Training Scholarship Fund.
