He was predeceased by: his parents, W. O. Smith and Ruth Smith; his brother David Smith; and his granddaughter Taren Abair. He is survived by: his close friend Dorothy Smith; and his children, Walter Lee Smith, Jr., Paula Michelle Gilson, Michael Paul Smith (Shanna) and David Dwight Smith. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; three bonus grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four bonus great-grandchildren.
