He was predeceased by: his parents, Velma Steele (Hayes) and Willie Robert Steele; his stepmother Lizzie Steele; his daughter Linda Whisenhunt; his siblings, Melba Steele and James H. Steele; and his great grandchild Casen Steele Riley.
He is survived by: his wife Stella Steele of Haskell; his children, Betty McDermett of Haskell and William E. Steele (Pam) of Haskell; and his stepsister Martha Lee (Billy) of Haleyville, AL. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren.
