She was predeceased by: her parents, Coyt Leroy Hix and Lottie Ozella Threet Hix; her husband Leon Newton; her brother Leroy Hix; and her siblings-in-law, Dorthea Hix Howell and Glenn Thompson.

She is survived by: her daughter Teresa L. McNea (Frank) of Abilene; her sister Louise Thompson of Snyder; and her grandsons, Joshua Tidwell (Michelle), Bradley Tidwell of Pilot Point, Scott McNea (Lisa) and Shane McNea of Marina, CA.
