He was predeceased by: his parents, Roberto Varela, Sr. and Adelaida M. Gonzalez; and his brother Edwardo "Eddie" Varela. He is survived by: his sons, Scarlon Varela and Ken Aldridge; and his granddaughter Jazmine Varela.
