He was predeceased by: his parents, Agustin Rivera and Audelia Gonzalez (Herrera); his stepfather Adolfo Gonzalez; and his brother Roy Gonzalez. He is survived by: his wife Martha Mendez; his children, Sandra Flores (Arturo Flores), Blanca Aguilar (Pastor Joe), Raul Rivera Jr. and Rolando Rivera (Missy); his grandchildren, Arturo Flores Jr., Annabelle Flores, Alyssa J. Ramos, J. T. Aguilar (Dailly), Raul A. Rivera (Jennifer), Ashley Rivera, Daniel Rivera and Victoria Rivera; his great grandchildren, Lilyana, Trini, Ellie Aguilar and Jocelyn Rivera; his siblings, Victor Gonzalez, Annabelle Roth (Rick), Roland Gonzalez (Tammy), George Gonzalez (Kristie) and William Gonzalez; and his pets, Oreo and Perla. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
