It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Petra Benavides of Harlingen, Texas, who passed away on February 26, 2022, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Leobardo Leon and Santos De Leon; her daughter Leticia B. Galvan (Jose); and her siblings, Cosme, Ernesto, Leobardo and Natalia De Leon (Tala).

She is survived by: her children, Belia Zavala (Leo), Ricardo Benavides (Evelyn) and Minerva Sanchez (David Sr.); her grandchildren, Priscilla Flores (Raul Jr.), Melissa Zavala (Javier Castillo), Leonel Lee Zavala Jr. (Lindsay), David Sanchez Jr. (Lisa Rodriguez), Samantha Ann Sanchez, Richard Alvino Benavides (Adriana Ceja) and Daniel Joseph Benavides; and her sister Juanita Guillen (Juan Sr.). She is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren.
