It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Pete Benavides of Harlingen, Texas, born in San Benito, Texas, who passed away on March 12, 2024, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Luis Benavides, Sr. and Lily Garcia Benavides; and his siblings, Hector Benavides, Herminia Jimenez, Josefina Gutierrez, Sara Camacho, Maria Elena and Maria Luisa.
He is survived by: his wife Janie Benavides; his children, Nora Garcia (Rene), Peter Benavides (Jacqueline), Hector Cavazos (Ivanne) and Henry Cavazos (Olivia); his siblings, Clara Lopez, Luis Benavides Jr. (Janie), Armandina Luna (Rene) and Oralia Bustos; his grandchildren, Cristian Garcia (Melanie), Cameron Garcia, Madeleine Benavides, Hannah Cavazos, Megan Cavazos, Alexis Cavazos (Michaela Mills), Jacob Cavazos, Ryan Cavazos, Samantha Jackson and Sabrina Saldivar; and his great grandchildren, Zaydn Gael Garcia, Exodus Cavazos, Jayden Flores, Noah Flores, Avilynn Araiza and Cynthia Reyes.
