It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Martha Jane Pumfrey in Harlingen, Texas, born in Dixon, Illinois, who passed away on January 24, 2022, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, George Jacobs and Ruby E. Jacobs (Hicks); her husband Richard "Dick" Eugene Pumfrey; her sister Maxine Boehle; her brother-in-law Kenneth Pumfrey; and her granddaughter Miranda Anne Pumfrey.

She is survived by: her children, Michele Vela (Juan) of San Isidro, TX, Danelle Merrell (Stephen) of Polo, IL and Darrin Pumfrey (Tamara) of Franklin Grove, IL; her sister Marjorie Kelso (David) of Stuart, FL; her grandsons, Matthew Hudson and Brandon Hudson; her great grandchildren, Landin Hudson and Bryce Hudson; and her siblings-in-law, Leon Boehle of Dixon, IL, Grayce Hartman of Woodberry, MN, Karen Fitzgerald (Howard) of Lancaster, KY, Jean Pumfrey of Sycamore, IL and Janice Farley (Don) of Peoria, AZ..

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Martha's memory to New Hope Fellowship Church.

We knew the Pumfrey family for many decades being members of Faith Lutheran church. But we knew Martha personally because of Christian women's club and other Bible studies. Martha attended my last Bible study at Howthorne Village last year. She always shared beautifully and showed how a true child of God can shine even when you are 80+ years! May God comfort you all.”
