He is survived by: his wife Angelita Vela; his sons, Mario Vela III and Oscar Vela (Amber); his grandchild Alexis Marie Vela; and his siblings, Rene Vela (Crystal), Porfirio Vela (San Juanita), Noe Vela, Lupe Vela (Mona), Marta Vela, Fela Montejo (Jorge) and Norma Longoria (Omar). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
