She was predeceased by: her husband Ramon Vela; her parents, Jesus Cavazos and Maria Celia Cavazos; her son Roberto Vela; and her siblings, Francisca Martinez, Magdalena Saldana, Hortencia Saldana and Wenceslado Cavazos.

She is survived by: her children, Maria Elena Vela, Elba Vela, Ramon Vela, Jr., Rodolfo Vela and Ricardo Vela. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
