He is survived by: his sister Sofia Alonzo; his son Leonel Benavides II (Isabel); and his grandsons, Leonel Espindola, Josue Benavides, Isai Moreno, Edgar Vasquez, Carlos Banuelos and Ivan Montante. He is also survived by 33 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren.
