He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Briggs and Deneise (Pilkington); and his stepfather Leon H. Eldred. He is survived by: his wife Maria G Elliott; his children, Vernon (Kirk), Terry Briggs Ardis (David) and Missy Palermo Dreese (Dan); his stepdaughter Maria "Milly" Elliott-Fernandez (Armando); his grandchildren, Amber Briggs Tynes (Cale), Wayne Henderson (Kellie), Sarah Ardis and Valerie Briggs; and his stepgrandchildren, Emily Tess Robinson (Dougie), Mikayla E Garrido-Lewallen (Nick), Jocelyn T Garrido, Timothy Davila, Jaycob Davila (Stephanie) and Julius Davila. He is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
One of his notable contributions to his community was volunteering to run electrical wire through an entire medical facility at no charge.
