He is survived by: his wife Maria Isabel Garcia Mares; and his children, Luis Jesus Mares (Maria Rosario), Maria Genoveva Mares (Nelson Beltran), Rebeca Mares (Lorenzo Gallardo), Juan Miguel Mares (Bianca) and Jose Arturo Mares. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren.
