In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact Jesus had on those he encountered along his journey. Though Jesus may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, his essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
He was predeceased by: his wife Inez Cortez; and his parents, Manuel Cortez and Rosa Cortez. He is survived by: his children, Laura Benavidez (Rafael), Nora Cortez-Gabriel (Jose), Gabriel Cortez and John Peter Cortez; and his sister Mary Loera. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Rudy Garza Funeral Home - Harlingen (1702 E Harrison Ave, Harlingen, TX 78550). A rosary was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 12:30 PM and at 1:00 PM. The military honors was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at the Restlawn Memorial Park (14166 US-83 BUS, La Feria, TX 78559).
