He was predeceased by: his grandfather Trevino (Albert Trevino); his wife Amelia Aguilar; his parents, Nicolas Aguilar and Irene Aguilar; and his siblings, Carlos Aguilar, Nicolas Aguilar Jr., Alfonso Aguilar and Lucille Aguilar Butler.
He is survived by: his close friend Juan Gonzalez; his children, Dora Mae Simpson, Gilbert Aguilar Jr. and Norma Aguilar-Sosa; his sisters, San Juanita Aguilar and Adelle Licon; his grandchildren, Heather K Atchley, Brando Joshua Munoz, Amanda A Smith, Mia M Aguilar and Amalio Anthony Munoz IV; and his great grandchildren, Natalie Munoz, Bradley Smith, Allyson Munoz, Lila Sherry Atchley, Randi Kelly Atchley and Maelee Dawn Atchley.
