He was predeceased by: his parents, Rito Barrera Sr. and Lydia Lopez Barrera; his brother Rito Barrera Jr.; and his nephews, Rene and Ricky Barrera.
He is survived by: his wife Dominga Alvarez Barrera; his children, Diana B. Sanchez (Emilio), David Barrera (Diane), Daniel Barrera (Robin) and Dina B. Gomez (Manuel III); his grandchildren, Jessica Russell (James), Jacob Sanchez, Kennedy Calloway, Colten Calloway, Daniella Barrera, Blake Teixeira, Rowdy Barrera, Liliana Gomez, Emily Gomez and Haily Gomez; his great grandchildren, Jordan and Jared Russell; and his sisters, Jovita Barrera and Anita B. Ramirez (Placido) of San Benito, TX.. He is also survived by his nephews, nieces and several cousins.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Trinity Funeral Chapel of the Holy Spirit (1002 E Harrison Ave, Harlingen, TX 78550). A rosary will be held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 13th 2025 at 12:30 PM and at 1:00 PM.
