He was predeceased by: his sister Gloria Rivera; and his wife Cathy Sue Chavez. He is survived by: his children, Dion Chavez (Cecilia), Laisa Macias (Juan) and Nadia Leal (Arnulfo); his grandchildren, Celinda Danielle Perez (Carlos), Nathaniel Emile Chavez, Bella Rose Leal, Elijah Daniel Leal and Solara Jolie "SunnyJo" Leal; his great grandchildren, Grace Perez, Carlos "River" Perez V, Adelaine "Addie" Arielle Perez and Ellie Sunshine Perez; his siblings, Eloy Chavez (Leah), Gleda Myers (Steve) and Gilda "Gigo" Grubbs (Johnny); and the mother of his children Yolanda Martinez (Armando). He is also survived by six nieces, three nephews.
