“I was privledged to be one of Dr. Covey's students at Gordon. I enjoyed his American lit classes. He encouraged me to speak up in class in spite of my shyness. He will be fondly remembered as a great teacher.”

Laurie Apling wrote a sympathy message

“To our great benefit, Doc "adopted" us as family, starting with my stepdad when he was Doc's student in college in the '60s. Listening to him talk was mesmerizing and inspirational. His life was dedicated to helping people, next door and all over the world. We love him dearly and will miss him terribly. Family and friends, I hope your memories of Doc bring you comfort.”

John-Manuel Andriote wrote a sympathy message

“"Doc" was my advisor while I was an English major at Gordon College in Wenham, Mass. I took several of his classes. He loved his subject matter AND his students, even if he often expressed it as "tough love." We began a correspondence in 1984 that ended in fall 2019, when he emailed and simply said I would not hear from him again because his eyesight made emailing too difficult. I have been richly blessed by my friendship with Delvin L. Covey. Flights of angels sing thee to thy rest, Doc..”

Joel Brotzman-Gonzales wrote a sympathy message

“I remember Mr. Covey fondly. He would come in every quarter to print the newsletter for the local Orchid Society when I worked at Mail Boxes Etc. which later became The UPS Store. (Late 90's early 2000's) Occasionally, he would treat my manager Rick and myself to lunch at the Golden Palms dining room where he lived to thank us for helping him with his printing. I had not seen him for several years and wondered about him from time to time. He was a dear man and I am sure he'll be missed.”

“This is John Drawe with Doc eating breakfast at Don Kuckos. The Corona Virus and his being wheel chair bound ended all of this a couple of months ago. I miss him so much.”

John Drawe wrote a sympathy message

“To Bruce, LInda and all of Doc's family. My name is John Drawe. I live in La Feria, Texas and tried to meet with Doc for breakfast as often as I could. He was always ready to get out of Golden Palms for our outing at Don Kukos for breakfast. He did not need a menu-2 eggs scrambled-NO BEANS-bacon(which he required that I eat). I miss him a lot. I wanted to know what happened when the time came close. He assured me all fine. Doc was such an incredible man. [email protected]
