He was predeceased by: his parents, Hermerejildo Ruiz and Dolores Jimenez Ruiz; his wife Gregoria Ruiz; his children, Dora Elia Ruiz and Eugene Ruiz; and his great grandchild Jathaniel Ibarra.
He is survived by: his children, Veronica Serna (Robert), Sandra Rodriguez (Ezequiel), David Ruiz (Yamilet), Severiano "Seb" Ruiz, Jose Amado Ruiz (Cheryl) and Danny Ruiz (Eva); his daughter-in-law Pat Ruiz; and his sisters, Enriqueta Caballero, Casimira Valdez and Lucia Escalante. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
