He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Shipwash and Mildred Shipwash; his grandmother Tessie Byrd; his parents-in-law, Reverend Merrell Brooks and Jessie Mae Brooks; and his nephew Justin Heck.

He is survived by: his significant other Debbie Shipwash; his daughters, Kelley Shipwash of Harleton and Jessica Johnson of Harleton; his grandsons, Cameron Johnson and Kayden Johnson; his siblings, James Shipwash (Anita) of Marshall and Tessie Coleman (Doug) of Longview; his brother-in-law David Brooks of Corpus Christi; his nephews, Travis Heck and Eric Shipwash; and his niece Meagan Morse. He is also survived by great nephews and nieces, many cousins and other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
