He was predeceased by: his parents, John Wright and Peggy Carter; his adoptive parents, Sidney Glen and Patricia Deckert; and his brother Roger Smikal.

He is survived by: his wife Melody VanDorn; his children, Clint Wade Deckert and Felicia Dawn Keaton; and his pet Buffy. He is also survived by five siblings; six grandchildren.
