He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Shimek and Frances Shimek (Kutac); his siblings, Wenceslaus, George, Milton, Joseph Shimek, Agatha Shimek, Judith Horelka, Dorothy Smith and Martha Kocich; and his daughter-in-law Carolyn Shimek.
He is survived by: his wife Gertrude Golsch Shimek; his children, Michael Shimek, Donald Shimek (Donna), Kenneth Shimek (Alice), Melissa Schindler (Brent) and Gregory Shimek (Vanessa); and his grandchildren, Tamara Segura, Nathan Shimek, Brianna Thomas, Chad Shimek, Brady Shimek, Britny Nevlud, Cale Shimek, Aaron Shimek, Allison Corcoran, Adam Shimek, Lindsey Barnes, Colby Schindler, Carson Schindler, Jensen Schindler, Rylan Schindler and Jared Shimek. He is also survived by 28 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 8:30 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville Hallettsville (400 E 5th St, Hallettsville, TX 77964). A rosary was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
